Bob + Annelise : Wedding

Friday 07 August 2009 at 9:21 pm. Used tags:

I had the pleasure to shoot the wedding of Bob + Annelise a couple of weeks ago before departing for France, and what an absolute joy it was too.

Worlds Apart

Based in Preston the ceremony took place at the local registry office, and then the wedding breakfast & reception at The Continental on the waters edge of Millers Park, a fantastic location.

Nowt taken owt

It would be accurate to describe my hiring for this job as 'simple'. Only some months before did I receive a phone call from a good friend enquiring as to my availability:

  • - "Eh up flower, what you doing on the 20th of July?"
  • - "Nothing booked, why?"
  • - "Fancy coming and doing my sister's wedding?
Nothing formal like, just take some snaps."
  • - "Ah, I forgot it was easy as that! Yeah sure, for you.."

It's always with pleasure I am reminded of the informality and easy nature of bookings with my fellow Northern folk, not to mention how friends 250 miles away will deem their trust in me good enough that my involvement in such an important family occasion down purely to a question of availability.

Brew anyone?

Bridal FlowersNever before have I met a bride's household in such a calm state of relaxation on a wedding morning. No sooner had I past the front step when asked to clarify my preference in the brew and bacon butty department - magic!

The flowers already at the house were simply amazing, and our first pit-stop with the camera. Moving onto detail shots of shoes and headdress it wasn't long before the family buzzing with excitement and trepidation made excellent opportunity for some candid moments.

Having done a 'recce' the day before we were able to travel between locations with utmost speed and capture every possible moment. Miller's Park provided an wonderful and dramatic backdrop (even with challenging and changing light conditions) and Bob and Lise amazingly enthusiastic about taking a short photo walk session through the park.

No place like it

Bridal MotherI confess to returning from the North so loved and cuddled with warmth and geniality that we spent the journey home debating if we should move back.

So whilst those at the wedding may have observed a photographer busily going about his job (and LOVING every minute) maybe he was also wishing just a little bit he could sit down for a good old natter over a pint!

:o)

It’d be good to have you both up here!
Shots look good. Looked like a scorcher.

Little Me

An enthusiastic and passionate semi-professional photographer for many years I took the decision in 2008 to side step my successful career as a Solutions Architect and devote my time to photography.

This blog is a catalog of my trials and tribulations on that journey.
