About me

An enthusiastic and passionate semi-professional photographer I took the decision in 2008 to side step my successful career as a Solutions Architect and devote my time to photography.
A little bit of history..
I was born in Oldham, Lancashire, in 1974 to loving parents Margaret and Brian. My mother a nurse, my father a teacher and photographer, my sister Rachel and I were encouraged from an early age to pursue our hobbies and ambitions.
As my father taught both Maths and Computers (they didn't call it "IT" back then) I was well bred for a career in computing, being fortunate enough to have my first computer (a ZX81) when I was seven. As the years progressed we acquired many machines including the infamous ZX Spectrum and obligatory BBC Micro, it was at this point I discovered programming.
By the age of fifteen, and with the support of my parents, I had progressed to running my own BBS (Bulletin Board System) and developing BBS-related shareware in TopSpeed C and Borland C++. Ironically, although successful in this area, my immediate ambition was to become a veterinarian; this was short-lived however due to subject-restrictions at my school.
Fast forward to today..
After running my own consultancy, and then working at MoneySupermarket.com, my wife Caroline and I took the decision to move to Oxfordshire, expanding our career horizons and being nearer family and friends.
Having had a 2-year spell with a company developing on-line recruitment systems, I am embarking on a new innovative and exciting business venture providing software consultancy.
So? .. where does photography come into this?
My father had been a semi-professional photographer in his spare time, including photo-journalism for publications such as Lancashire Life. As such I'd been able to play with a wide variety of cameras, and by the age of 13 had been given my first camera - a Pentax from recollection.
Later, although my love photography remained, my time was spent with other pursuits and it was only in my late twenties I began to once again find the time to take it seriously.
At this time, and with more time in-hand, I am once again working on many project ideas that I hope may become the foundation of an exhibition.
